导向架为钢板桩常规施工方法。具有以下优点:施工简便和安全,线型及垂直度控制较为容易。缺点是:安装导向架作业时间长,作业平台要求较高,涂层与导向架剐蹭严重,地质条件较为坚硬时对导梁及作业围栏震动较大,即使改装加宽、安装滑轮和橡胶皮后效果并不明显,同时锁扣部分摩擦较为严重且一次性沉桩深度较浅。

无导向架为经验施工方法,其优点是:避免涂层剐蹭,可通过钢板桩震动走向调整钢板桩的起震位置,一次性打入深度较深,节省导向架安装及调整时间,日进度相对较高。不足之处是:施工难度较大、危险性较高,线型及垂直度不易控制,地质情况较差时也会引起锁扣及涂层的破损,且同样避免不了桩头撕裂。

因此,在同一锤型及沉桩条件下,两种方法都无法完全避免桩头撕裂、锁扣摩擦及摩擦所引起的钢板涂层损坏。就工程类型适用性而言,导向架施工更适用于平面线型要求较高、桩体较长、现场具备降温条件或地质条件较好的沉桩施工;无导向架施工适用于桩体较短、线型及垂直度要求较为宽松、临时性或紧急性较强(如临时钢板桩结构、临时基坑支护结构等)的工况,且主要适用于振动沉桩施工。
